Therevis, elf conjurer

Character synopsis

This guy was just for a little one-shot campaign exploring a haunted house. I realized I hadn't really played a wizard yet, but I also didn't want to be a super-stereotypical blasting wizard. He's definitely focused on crowd control with all manner of area effects that block or debilitate groups of foes so the party only has to deal with a few at a time. There were also some fun roleplaying ideas even if I didn't try them much at all while playing him. This is probably my last 3.5 character.

History / origin

Therevis was once part of a mercenary company with a bunch of other magic-users and stuff. He fought in many campaigns as a specialist caster with his spells that limited enemy mobility. Eventually the entire company (except for Therevis, obviously) was wiped out in a disastrous and perhaps traitorous ambush. He probably blamed himself a bit, and after that mostly lived a depressed life doing some odd jobs.

Descriptiony

Finding his past inescapable, Therevis still ends up playing his old role for various adventuring parties and such, but he keeps himself depressedly aloof from any real contact - he probably doesn't want to lose more friends or something. In stressful times or heated fights he often lapses into vivid flashbacks of past battles, especially the disaster of which he was the sole survivor; his adventuring companions witness strange moments where he calls them by the wrong name or responds to events that clearly are not occuring.

Dates played: spring 2008, once

Class levels: wizard (conjurer) 7

Sweet traits: Basically he just memorizes a bunch of kool spells, especially crowd-control conjuration like solid fog, stinking cloud, web, sleet storm, or glitterdust, and some standard enchantment spells, plus a smattering of useful necromancy, illusion, evocation, or whatever.

Sweet gear: really most of his starting gold was spent on the value of the spells in his spellbooks, but he did loot some sweet wizard gear from the haunted mansion.
