Akhom was another attempt at a ronin, exiled from his homeland. What is more special about him compared to the other ronin I tried to play is that he was from the very Egyptian sort of culture of San-Kama, worshippers of the God-Kings that rule them. He was still very loyal to them and their religious dogma despite the exile that almost killed him. The horror elements of the campaign and the other party members also have helped to shape his character.
Akhom used to be an upstanding and pretty highly ranked knight in service to the God-Kings of San-Kama in the South. As the years passed he started bending the tenets of his society to do some slightly immoral things on the side which he justified as helping the God-Kings and stuff. This was discovered and other soldiers were ordered to take him into custody while they were out on a navy ship; Akhom fought for his life and was thrown overboard, where he would say he drowned. But he washed up on shore far away and began his lonely trek through the barbaric hinterlands of the North. In these lands of heresy and witchcraft he holds to the faith of the South, working as a mercenary and hoping he can be forgiven by the God-Kings and reclaim his old life.
Clinging to the ways of his past, Akhom still uses and maintains the equipment of his past. San-Kama's religious rituals are still part of his routine and he makes frequent attempts to remind the locals of their heretical and false beliefs. Ever since falling overboard at the start of his exile, Akhom has had nightmares of the black water filling his lungs and dragging him further into its crushing depths; he avoids any bodies of water and would surely be crippled by a fear of drowning if ever entering one, though he admits it only to the God-Kings in his prayers.
Dates played: Summer 2007 and hopefully longer
Class levels: ex-samurai 3 / fighter 4 / ronin 1
Sweet traits: his class levels are all in combat classes, so that's what he's good at. Skillswise he's got some good intimidation though he's also been learning a little about deception lately.
Sweet gear: Akhom's gear is all stuff he earned as a knight in his homeland with an overall black and silver theme. There's his dragonhide full plate, which I like to think was from some weird Southern sort of half-black/half-silver dragon. He also has a cloak of resistance bearing the emblem of his gods/nation. Most important is his daisho; named in his native language, there's Eclipse the +1 adamantine bastard sword and Full Moon the +1 cold iron short sword which sheds moonlight from its blade.
